Long Time No Blog!

Well duh. :P

My life has been very up and down, and even though I'm obsessed with all the cool random stuff you can learn on the internet, I've managed to ignore facebook/myspace/social networking with very little effort.

Work is going really well! I was having a really rough time with stuff a few weeks ago, but I have moved on. Put simply and vaguely, I was letting other people's ideas of my job get to me too much. It was getting so bad I was ready to walk out, but then I realized that all the negativity was from the outside, and that if I want to be happy working I need to put the time in and make this a good experience. So now that I'm enjoying work most of the time, I've been trying harder, and I'm making progress with my photoshopping skills. I've gotten a couple compliments/pep talks from higher up, and it feels really good to know that people actually notice. It's nice to feel good about the potential in a job, and this is so much better then making pizza.

I have so many mixed feelings about school right now. Sometimes I'm really into it, other times I'm so bored of hearing all the theory I want to fall asleep. I'm going to stick with this through my four classes and get my certificate. After that? Who knows... Grad school is kind of appealing, but I think I'd rather go for linguistics/applied linguistics then TESL. I'm not even sure if I'll make it into a classroom at this rate.

Really exciting news! I'm going to Japan in April! Work just approved the time off, and I'm buying the plane ticket this week. Seriously, I'm so excited I could pee myself. Besides the obvious awesomeness of this trip, I have two friends that I'm going to visit, and I'd also like to go on a few school tours. Besides the dates, no solid plans have been made, but I'm hoping to visit Sendai (where Greg is), Tokyo (duh), Nagoya, Kyoto (where Mike is and some friends of my grandmother), Kobe, and Osaka. I may scrap some of stops, and try my hand at rural areas where you can take day hikes (i'm really not out doorsy, but I've never been to less populated Japan). So until April, I'm going to be doing my best to fill in the huge gaps in my Japanese and saving money.

Finally, I'm going to try and praticipate in National Blog Posting Month. I don't think this is a widely accepted month (like NaNoWriMo) but I'm going to use it as an excuse to post through November.
